News PHOTO CALL: Inside the 65th Primetime Emmy Awards The 65th Primetime Emmy Awards, hosted by Broadway star and Emmy-winning actor Neil Patrick Harris, aired live Sept. 22 at 8 PM ET on CBS from the NOKIA Theater L.A. LIVE in Los Angeles.

The HBO film "Behind The Candelabra" took home top honors of the evening, receiving awards for Outstanding Miniseries Or Movie, Outstanding Directing For A Miniseries, Movie Or A Dramatic Special (Steven Soderbergh) and Outstanding Lead Actor In A Miniseries Or A Movie (Michael Douglas) as well as eight Creative Arts Emmy Awards. 

Inside the 65th Primetime Emmy Awards


Also honored were "Modern Family" for Outstanding Comedy Series and "Breaking Bad" for Outstanding Drama Series. 

Stage stars who received awards for their work on television included Daniels for "The Newsroom," Danes for "Homeland," Parsons for "The Big Bang Theory" and Cannavale for "Boardwalk Empire," among others. 

As previously reported, The 66th Annual Tony Awards and the HBO film "Behind the Candelabra" were among the winners at the 2013 Creative Arts Emmy Awards, which were held Sept. 15. The 2013 ceremony included an expanded "In Memoriam" segment, featuring tributes to late "Glee" star Cory Monteith, actor James Gandolfini, actress Jean Stapleton, producer Gary David Goldberg and comedian Jonathan Winters.

Edie Falco paid tribute to "Sopranos" co-star Gandolfini with Jane Lynch honoring Monteith, Michael J. Fox honoring "Family Ties" producer Goldberg, Rob Reiner honoring "All in the Family" star Stapleton and Robin Williams honoring "Mork & Mindy" co-star Winters.
