News PHOTO CALL: It's a Bird...It's a Plane... Dallas Opening Night A new version of the 1966 Broadway musical It's a Bird…It's a Plane...It's Superman, with revisions by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, opened June 28 at the Dallas Theater Center.

DTC artistic director Kevin Moriarty directs the Charles Strouse-Lee Adams musical, which began previews June 18 and will run through July 25 at the AT&T Performing Arts Center.

Matt Cavenaugh (West Side Story, A Catered Affair) stars in the title role with Patrick Cassidy (Blood Brothers, Assassins) as the musical's villain, Max Mencken. Cassidy's father, Jack Cassidy, originated the role in the original 1966 Broadway production under the direction of Hal Prince.

Zakiya Young (The Little Mermaid) is cast as Lois Lane, with Cavenaugh's wife and Broadway actress Jenny Powers (Grease, Happiness, Little Women) as Clark Kent's other love interest, Sydney Sharp. Andrew Keenan-Bolger (Mary Poppins, Spelling Bee) plays Torchy.
