The world premiere of Nick Jones' 18th-century-set comedy The Coward, starring Jeremy Strong in the title role, plays the Duke on 42nd Street under the auspices of LCT3.

According to LCT3, "A cowardly young gentleman named Lucidus, to be played by Jeremy Strong, initiates a pistol duel then finds that he can't go through with it. So he hires a common criminal to fight in his place, only to have the scoundrel make a bloody mess of things. As duel follows duel with many shots fired, this coward finds his reputation growing beyond his wildest expectations."

Here is a look at the work:

In addition to Strong, the ensemble cast features Steven Boyer, Jarlath Conroy, John Patrick Dougherty, Stephen Ellis, Richard Poe, Kristen Schaal and Christopher Evan Welch. Sam Gold directs.

All tickets for LCT3 productions are priced $20. For tickets phone (646) 223-3010 or visit Dukeon42.

Citing the need to develop strong relationships with new artists and to develop a new audience, and recognizing the frustrations that playwrights have with the current system of readings and workshops, Lincoln Center Theater (under the direction of artistic director Andre Bishop and executive producer Bernard Gersten) created LCT3 to offer new artists fully staged productions. Lincoln Center Theater's long-term plans for LCT3 call for the creation of a permanent venue to present the work of these artists; to that end a 99-seat theatre will be built in or near Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts. Paige Evans is the director of LCT3.
