Peter Hall (Amadeus) directs the production set in Elizabethan England. According to production notes, the new production "sees Titania, the Fairy Queen, as a portrait of the aging Queen Elizabeth I, fascinated with theatre, besieged by courtiers but 'married to the people of England'." Dench leads the cast that also includes Oliver Chris, William Chubb, Msimisi Dlamini, Charles Edwards, Richard Keightley, James Laurenson, Ben Mansfield, Reece Ritchie, Susan Salmon, Simon Scott, Sophie Scott, Annabel Sholey, Timothy Speyer, Rachael Stirling, Julian Wadham, Leon Williams and Tam Williams.
