Frank Langella, the American star of Fortune's Fool, celebrated the April 2 opening of the Ivan Turgenev play with fellow actors Alan King (currently in Mr. Goldwyn) and Tony Randall.
Turgenev's Fortune's Fool is about a cash- poor gentleman (Alan Bates) who has lost his lands and managed to linger on for 20 years as a guest at a Russian estate. Langella plays a meddling, arrogant neighbor who gets in the way of Bates' reunion with the returning daughter of the long-gone master of the estate. Fortune's Fool, directed by Arthur Penn, opened April 2 at the Music Box Theatre.
