With the opening night of the Cuckoo behind them, playwright Arthur Laurents (far left), actor Adam Trese and star Debra Monk celebrated Feb. 21. With them is guest Penny Fuller, who recently performed in the Cuckoo's house, the Mitzi E. Newhouse, in A New Brain.

Laurents' 1952 play is about the romances of two Americans in Venice. One story has a young painter cheating on his wife with his landlady, while another plotline follows an unmarried American woman's relationship with a married Venetian merchant. Monk stars as the Yankee to Olek Krupa's Italian.
