Messina directed the reading, which is presented by the Bleecker Street Theater Company. The reading was held in anticipation of future regional productions of the play, which producers characterize as Broadway-bound.
In addition to Cantone (Assassins, "Sex and the City") and Macchio (How to Succeed…, "Karate Kid"), the reading featured and Shannen Doherty ("90210," "Heathers"), Valerie Smaldone (Spalding Gray: Stories Left to Tell), Adam Trese, Gina Ferranti, John Barbieri and Kendra Jain.

Mario Cantone, Ralph Macchio and More Perform Room of My Own Reading
According to producers, "A Room of My Own is a two-act play that revolves around a playwright's Herculean attempt to tell his story of growing up in a tiny studio apartment inside a crumbling five-flight-walk-up on Thompson Street in Greenwich Village with his certifiably insane Italian-American family."
The Max Martin musical features a number of his most beloved songs, including “…Baby One More Time,” “Roar,” “Since U Been Gone,” “It’s My Life,” “I Want It That Way,” “Can’t Stop the Feeling!,” and more.
