Julia Murney of last season's The Wild Party and this season's Crimes of the Heart caught the April 17 opening night performance of Blast! at the Broadway Theatre. With her is Jim Moore, a member of the drum and bugle corps show's visual ensemble.

A vast array of musical implements are used in Blast! from the familiar — trumpet, trombone, snare drums — to the more exotic, like mellophones, euphoniums, a large surdo, mark trees and the vibraphone. The music from the likes of Bernstein, Ravel, Copland and Barber, is complemented by traditional marching band flag and sabre corps, who fling their brightly-colored banners and wooden rifles to the flies in choreographed routines. Blast! plays the Broadway Theatre through June 3.
