News PHOTO CALL: NEA Honored Playwright Brings a Touch of The Female Heart to NYC Playwright Linda Faigao-Hall's play The Female Heart, a glimpse into the struggles of life in the Philippines, opened Off-Broadway on Feb. 26.

The world premiere is presented by DiverseCity Theater, in association with Ensemble Studio Theatre. The Female Heart explores "the desperate choices two siblings make to escape life in the infamous garbage dump community of the Philippiness Smokey Mountain." Below, cast members Victor Lirio, Rona Figueroa, director Jamie Richards, producer Liz Casasola and Sean Sutherland are seen at the opening night party, held in the cafe of the Theatre Row complex, on West 42th Street in the heart of New York City's theatre district.
