News PHOTO CALL: No Me Diga! Meet the Cast of the Dominican Republic's Upcoming Spanish-Language In the Heights A Spanish-language production of the Tony Award-winning musical In the Heights, which brings to life the characters of New York City's Washington Heights neighborhood, will premiere in November at the Palacio de Bellas Artes in Santo Domingo.

Featuring a Tony-nominated book by Quiara Alegría Hudes and a Tony-winning score by Lin‐Manuel Miranda, the pop and hip-hop musical tells the story of a bodega owner from the Dominican Republic chasing the American Dream in New York City. It premiered on Broadway in 2008, playing a 1,214 run before closing in early 2011.

No Me Diga! Meet the Cast of the Dominican Republic's Upcoming Spanish-Language In the Heights


The D.R. production, which is produced by Amaury Sánchez, will play six performances Nov. 7-16 under the direction of Waddys Jáquez.

Javier Grullón will star as Usnavi in a cast that also features Diana Pou as Vanessa, Héctor Aníbal Estrella as Benny, Laura Lebrón as Nina, José Lora Checho as Kevin Rosario, Dolly García as Camila Rosario, Sonia Alfonso as Abuela Claudia, Diomary la Mala as Daniela, Karla Fatule as Carla, Ian Castillo as Sony, Alejandro Moscoso as Piragua Guy and JJ Sánchez as Graffiti Pete.

Isadora Bruno will choreograph the production, which has musical direction by producer Sánchez.

In the Heights also earned Tony Awards for Best Musical, Best Choreography and Best Orchestrations (Alex Lacamoire and Bill Sherman).
