News PHOTO CALL: Public Gives Much Ado About Shakespeare with Opening of Summer Show in Central Park The Public Theater/New York Shakespeare Festival opened it's yearly Shakespeare in the Park production on June 13. This year's presentation of Much Ado About Nothing stars Jimmy Smits and Kristen Johnston.

Smits and Johnston, who both recently appeared on the New York stage (he in Anna in the Tropics, she in Aunt Dan and Lemon), square off in William Shakespeare's duel of wits under the direction of David Esbjornson (The Normal Heart). Celebrating the opening at left are Johnston, and Dominic Chianese, seen with his daughter. Below, producer George C. Wolfe, Chianese, Esbjornson, Smits, and co-stars Elisabeth Waterston, Sam Waterston, and Brian Murray gather at Central Park's Belvedere Castle, overlooking the Delacorte Theatre, for the opening night reception.

Much Ado About Nothing will play through Aug. 8.
