On the Town was the first Broadway musical legendary lyricist and performer Adolph Green had written. Green starred as Ozzie with his writing partner Betty Comden as Claire De Loone. The production ran for 462 performances after opening Dec. 28, 1944. On the Town has been made into a classic film starring Gene Kelly and Frank Sinatra and revived on Broadway two times, most recently by the Public Theatre in the 1998-1999 season.

Pictured are John Battles and Nancy Walker, enacting the original "taxi cab confessions" as the sailor Gabey and the man-hungry Hildy Esterhazy.
