News PHOTO CALL: Remembering Adolph Green: Wonderful Town

After On the Town came Wonderful Town. Rosalind Russell (pictured) starred as Ruth Sherwood, who has adventures in 1930's Greenwich Village with her sister Eileen (Edith Adams). Wonderful Town bested On the Town's Broadway performances, playing 559 at the Winter Garden Theatre and winning Green his first Tony Award for his lyrics. (Among the stage managers was Hal Prince, who would later direct On the Twentieth Century and A Doll's Life.) Encores! revived the show with stars Donna Murphy and Laura Benanti.
