The starry event featured the talents of Mia Barron ("The Venture Bros.," "The Coast of Utopia"), Chris Butler ("The Good Wife," "Criminal Minds"), Kathryn Hahn ("Hung," "How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days"), Rashida Jones ("Parks and Recreation," "The Social Network"), Paul Provenza ("Northern Exposure," "The West Wing"), Emily Swallow ("Southland," "The Lucky Ones"), Sam Trammell ("True Blood," "Alien vs. Predator: Requiem"), Steven Weber ("Wings," "Brothers & Sisters"), Rutina Wesley ("True Blood," "How She Move") and Bess Wohl (who is writing the book for the upcoming musical Pretty Filthy). The award-winning New York-based theatre company is known for investigating real life topics: For this current project, The Civilians have spent more than a year in Las Vegas and the San Fernando Valley gathering stories from directors, performers, agents and producers about the dirty movie business.

This research will eventually become The Civilians' new musical Pretty Filthy, directed by Steve Cosson, with book by Bess Wohl and music and lyrics by Michael Friedman (Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson). The evening provided an early look at the development of the new musical.
