Kerry Butler - whose performance as Clio earned her a 2008 Tony nomination - was joined by Jacob ben Widmar (Swing), Kenita Miller (Erato), Patti Murin (Euterpe), Mary Testa (Melpomene) and Marty Thomas (Featured Skater) at the iconic East-Side eatery once frequented by such figures as Marilyn Monroe, Jackie Kennedy and Andy Warhol.
The most imposing figure on this particular afternoon was the guest-of-honor sundae, described as "3 scoops of vanilla, chocolate and strawberry ice cream that 'fly so high' in a magical disco-lighted goblet flowing with raspberry and strawberry toppings. . . .Rays of rainbow laces and watermelon twizzlers sit under a multi-colored whipped cream cloud that only Kira could descend from. A galaxy of silver shooting stars and flying saucers along with mini ice cream cone dreams top off heaven in a goblet. A 'million lights are dancing' from the disco ball lollipop atop this sweet ice cream dream."
Priced at $18.95, the Xanadu "Strange Magic" Sundae is available for a limited time at Serendipity 3 (located at 225 East 60th Street between Second and Third Ave).
Xanadu, the recipient of four Tony nominations, currently plays the Helen Hayes Theatre at 240 West 44th Street. For tickets and information, visit www.xanaduonbroadway.com.
