News PHOTO CALL: Some Girl(s) Star Fran Drescher Receives Spirit of Life Award Just over a week away from beginning performances in MCC Theater’s production of Neil LaBute’s Some Girl(s), actress Fran Drescher was honored with the City of Hope Cancer Center’s Spirit of Life Award on May 9.

Drescher – who is best known to audiences as the star of the popular television show “The Nanny” – became an outspoken advocate of women’s healthcare issues after she survived her own battle with cancer. Below, Drescher is seen with Rosie O'Donnell, who presented the award, at the 2006 Spirit of Life Award luncheon at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel on Park Avenue in New York City.
