Written by Smith after her brother— who was a life-long alcohol addict—committed suicide, Addictions brought together the talents of director Peter DuBois, actors Chris Sarandon, Trudie Styler and Peter Bartlett, in addition to Plimpton, Hecht and Hoffman, to benefit the Caron Treatment Centers for addiction. At left, James Earl Jones and Karen Ziemba are seen after the one-night only performance.
