Rock of Ages, which is currently celebrating its fifth anniversary, opened on Broadway April 7, 2009, and played its final performance at The Brooks Atkinson Theatre Jan. 9, 2011, before reopening at The Helen Hayes Theatre March 24, 2011.
The musical is produced on Broadway and worldwide by Matthew Weaver, Michael Cohl and Jonathan Linden/S2BN Entertainment, in addition to Carl Levin, Jeff Davis, Barry Habib, Scott Prisand, Reagan Silber, Relativity Media, Janet Billig Rich and Hillary Weaver.
The production will include Bernstein’s incidental music for Lillian Hellman’s adaptation of The Lark, and Menotti’s The Unicorn, The Gorgon, and The Manticore.
Based on the novel and film by Frank Cottrell Boyce, the new musical will reunite Guettel with Tony-winning Light in the Piazza director Bartlett Sher.
