The warm new musical follows a group of elementary schoolers through the course of an annual spelling bee, tracking their united maturity along the way.

At left choreographer Dan Knechtges and Rebecca Feldman (who conceived the musical) are seen above cast members Jose Llana and Deborah S. Craig. Below, actor Jesse Tyler Ferguson and composer William Finn hug at the opening night party, held at the Holy Cross School on West 43rd Street in midtown Manhattan.

The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee is directed by James Lapine and is scheduled to run through March 6.
