Have things gotten this desperate at At Liberty? Rick Borutta played Carol Channing filling in for Elaine Stritch in the solo show's bonnet skit.

In 2002, the Easter Bonnet competition raised $1,826,392 for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. Mamma Mia! raised the most money — $162,037 — with Mamma Mia! (as in the first national tour) was first runner-up with $140,077. This was the first time a national tour placed in the Easter Bonnet competition. Oher top fundraisers were Rent ($97,568), The Lion King ($89,548) and The Phantom of the Opera ($84,433). Metamorphoses was the play champion ($102,209), while Naked Boys Singing took home the Off-Broadway prize with $17,605.
