Oh, those beautiful bonnet men. Metamorphoses used their famous wading pool for their theme at the Easter bonnet competition, while family show Beauty and the Beast mocked the Lunt-Fontanne's location — right next to the gay strip club, the Gaiety.

In 2002, the Easter Bonnet competition raised $1,826,392 for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. Mamma Mia! raised the most money — $162,037 — with Mamma Mia! (as in the first national tour) was first runner-up with $140,077. This was the first time a national tour placed in the Easter Bonnet competition. Oher top fundraisers were Rent ($97,568), The Lion King ($89,548) and The Phantom of the Opera ($84,433). Metamorphoses was the play champion ($102,209), while Naked Boys Singing took home the Off-Broadway prize with $17,605.
