John Tillinger directed Gurney's Children on the Mainstage (July 1–12) with a cast that featured Katie Finneran, Judith Light, Mary Bacon and James Waterston.
"In Children," press notes read, "an estranged brother's return to the family summer home off the coast of Massachusetts and a mother's impending marriage recall painful memories of a father's death, causing love affairs to crumble and family secrets to explode."
On the Nikos Stage, WTF artistic director Nicholas Martin staged Sherman's Knickerbocker (July 8–19). The cast of the world premiere included Reg Rogers, Annie Parisse, Brooks Ashmanskas, Susan Pourfar, Peter Dinklage, Rightor Doyle and Bob Dishy.
"Are you ready?" posed WTF materials. "The question looms over Jerry as the months tick by and his unborn son grows from the size of a peach to the size of, well, a baby. As the birth date creeps ever nearer, will the advice, encouragement and warnings of friends and family make Jerry more or less ready? The awe and terror of becoming a new parent shines through Sherman's newest comedy as he examines whether one can ever truly be ready for parenthood."
