In honor of Mother's Day (May 13), Playbill.com offers a two-show day with one of the hard-working mommys currently performing on Broadway. Spend a day at work and play with Priscilla Queen of the Desert's Ellyn Marie Marsh, who balances the rigorous show schedule with her duties as mother to 3-year-old Lola.
Marsh offers readers an extensive glimpse at her day, beginning promptly at 7:30 AM in order to maximize mother-daughter time before heading off to the Palace Theatre for a two-performance Sunday.
See how the family fits playtime, breakfast, band practice and a trip to the street fair into just a few short hours... then accompany Marsh to work and meet the guys and gals (and other) who inhabit the world of Priscilla.

Priscilla Queen of the Desert closed on Broadway on this date in 2012. Earlier that year Playbill.com offered a two-show day at work and play with cast member Ellyn Marie Marsh, who balanced the rigorous show schedule with her duties as mother to then-3-year-old Lola.

Wake up call at 7:50 AM. This is the face I see first thing in the morning. Stinking adorable right? We always camp out on a Saturday night. Here's my alarm clock. Her name is Lola and she is very punctual. And does not come with a snooze button.

We grab a breakfast bar and head for the first project of the morning. Coloring. Our little Picasso. What we imagine everyone is doing at 8 am.

This is our art gallery. She for sure has a method. Please contact her agent for commissions. (please also note my coupons. I'm like an 80 year old woman with a THING for all things coupons.)

Most of our day is filled with waiting on the Princess. This is my husband Travas, the amazing chef of the house! She likes lemon curd on her toast and she takes her toast in the lounge, naturally.

Lola, like most, spends her Sunday morning thumbing through the New York Times.

Lola loves to paint. She paints a cat, I paint my face. Mommy/daughter quality time in a multitasking kind of way.

We had a visitor to our morning art project. A beautiful butterfly.

Lola LOOOOOOVES animals. She is like a little Bindy Erwin. Here, she is crying tears of joy that her winged friend landed on her. Whatta tree hugger, my little one.

A quick clean-up (with song obviously) and we are on to the next part of our morning. We speak to her in Japanese and she is working on rice paper making and thai chi- it's all super zen. All this before 10 AM. It's awesome.

Bette Midler proudly presents "the most outrageously fun musical on Broadway, the Tony Award-winning production of Priscilla, now celebrating its one-year anniversary on Broadway, over 500 performances and over half a million fans dancing in the aisles," according to production notes. "This spectacular show tells the story of three best friends on the wildest road trip ever. With over 500 dazzling costumes and a hit parade of songs including 'It's Raining Men' and 'I Will Survive,' Priscilla promises the two happiest hours on Broadway!"
Olivier Award nominee Tony Sheldon (as Bernadette), Hair Tony Award nominee Will Swenson (as Tick/Mitzi) and La Cage aux Folles actor Nick Adams (as Adam/Felicia) star as "the trio of friends on a heart-warming, uplifting adventure. [They] hop aboard a battered old bus searching for love and friendship in the middle of the Australian outback and end up finding more than they could ever have dreamed." Priscilla Queen of the Desert won a Tony Award for Costume Design. Tony Sheldon was nominated for Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Musical.
The event, organized by Nattalyee Randall and Courtney Daniels, will feature such guest speakers as Broadway for Racial Justice founder Brandon Michael Nase and AFECT co-founder Eden Espinosa.
All Together Now!, available to theatres worldwide free of charge, will include songs by Stephen Schwartz, Ahrens and Flaherty, Jonathan Larson, and more.
