I'm baaaaaaaaack.
That's right readers, Alexandra Silber here, back and ready to [over]share! Well, with such a lovely response from all of you how could I stay away?
The truth is I just couldn't resist sharing a bit more from behind the scenes at Manhattan Theatre Club's revival of Master Class starring Tyne Daly at The Samuel J. Friedman Theatre!
Wait, does this make it a serial?! A serial deserves a proper title. Hmm... perhaps...
"Are you there God? It's Me Sophie."
No.
How about... "Sophie Knows What You Did Last Summer"
or
"Sophie De Palma Explains it All For You?"
Regardless... I bring you, with unabashed "Sophie Geek-Chic" pleasure:
"The Adventures of Sophie and Sharon!"
You see, Sierra Boggess (who plays soprano Sharon Graham) and I are having so much fun together offstage, we wanted to give you our very own sneak peek at all this said fun.
Do we spend every day off together? Maybe. Did we turn our dressing room at The Friedman into a character-related Juilliard dorm room? You betcha.
Wanna take a closer look at all this adorable insanity? It is just a click away.

Our Super Real Imaginary Dorm Life
When Sierra and I first met in London, violins played. Well, it felt like they did. The POINT is that we were an instant match and were excited to share a dressing room, which we promptly began to plan.

Al and Sierra have turned Dressing Room 4 into a Juilliard dorm room, as if Sophie and Sharon have been forced to move in to the dorms together and are valiantly trying to make it work "Odd Couple"-style.

So, what are two crazy ladies to do? Well I will tell you what they do! They go all out. They *WHOLE-ass* it. They come up with a concept and never look back. Ladies and gentlemen, I give you... DRESSING ROOM 4!

Ta-DAAAA!!!

Did we force our director to take us to the Juilliard Store so we could use his staff discount? Did we then buy Juilliard flags and magnets and relevant paraphernalia to go on our doors and walls? Did we buy matching shirts, fleeces and water bottles...?

We are aware that it is ridiculous. We are. Being serious for a moment, it might even seem a little insane to say this, but it has legitimately fleshed out our back-stories on stage in a pretty profound way.

So get ready. Stuff in Dressing Room 4 is about to get very very real...

According to MTC, "Terrence McNally's play about Maria Callas (Tyne Daly) takes us to one of her famous master classes, where, late in her own career, she dares the next generation to make the same sacrifices and rise to the same heights that made her the most celebrated, the most reviled and the most controversial singer of her time."
Stephen Wadsworth directs a cast that also features Olivier Award nominee Sierra Boggess (as Sharon Graham), Clinton Brandhagen (as Stagehand), Jeremy Cohen (as Emmanuel Weinstock), Drama Desk Award winner Alexandra Silber (as Sophie De Palma) and Garrett Sorenson (as Anthony Candolino).
