Audra McDonald, who earned a Tony Award nomination for inhabiting Billie Holiday in Lanie Robertson's Lady Day at Emerson's Bar and Grill, won her 5th career Tony Award in 2012 for her leading performance in The Gershwins’ Porgy and Bess. She previously won Tonys for Carousel, Master Class, Ragtime and A Raisin in the Sun.

Directed by Tony Award nominee Lonny Price (110 in the Shade, Sweeney Todd, Company), Lady Day at Emerson's Bar and Grill began previews March 25 and opened to strong critical notices April 13.

The Broadway production was originally scheduled as a limited, 10-week engagement. Performances will now continue through Aug. 10 at Circle in the Square.
