News Piazza's Burnham Celebrates New CD at the Metropolitan Room Oct. 7; Block and Owens Guest David Burnham — who played Fabrizio in the recently ended tour of The Light in the Piazza — celebrates the release of his debut solo recording with an Oct. 7 concert at the Metropolitan Room in Manhattan.

The concert, titled CD Release Celebration, will also feature special guest appearances by Stephanie J. Block (who joins Broadway's Wicked Oct. 9) and former Rent star Destan Owens. The 9:30 PM concert is directed by Ken Sawyer with musical direction by Christopher Denny. Cabaretgoers can expect to hear tunes from Burnham's new solo CD as well as other standards and contemporary theatre music. Burnham and Block will duet on a song from Wicked.

"David Burnham" is currently available on the LML Music label. The single CD features such tunes as "Moon River," "Someone to Fall Back On," "As Long as You're Mine" (duet with Eden Espinosa), "Gypsy in My Soul," "Muddy Water," "Flight," "Love to Me," "Maria," "I Wish I Were in Love Again," "When You Wish Upon a Star"/"A Dream Is a Wish Your Heart Makes," "Close Every Door," "The Prayer" and "Smile."

For his performance in the national tour of The Light in the Piazza, David Burnham received the 2007 Helen Hayes Award for Best Actor and the 2007 Garland Award; he also appeared in the Broadway staging of that Adam Guettel musical. Burnham starred in the title role of the national tour of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and in the national tour of Jesus Christ Superstar. He created the role of Fiyero in the pre-Broadway workshops of Wicked; his other theatrical credits include productions of Tom Jones, Letters from 'Nam, Peggy Sue Got Married, Godspell, Children of Eden, Woman in Black, Assassins and Pirates of Penzance. Burnham also appeared in the Actors Fund benefit concert of On the 20th Century.
