SEATTLE-- Steve Martin’s popular comedy Picasso at the Lapin Agile will be performed at Seattle’s Moore Theatre by the national touring company, April 22-26.

The subtle, fanciful comedy supposes what might have happened during a fictional encounter between Pablo Picasso and Albert Einstein, in 1904, in a bohemian Paris bistro (Lapin Agile translates into playful rabbit). The play measures the effect these geniuses have on the bar regulars, and vice-versa.

Paul Provenza, perhaps best known for his lead role in the final season of CBS TV’s Northern Exposure is Picasso, and New York stage actor Mark Nelson is Einstein. The play was the winner of the 1996 Outer Critics Circle Awards’ for Best Actor and Playwright.

Performances are Wed.-Sat. evenings at 8 PM, with Sat.-Sun. matinees at 2 PM and a Sun. evening show at 7 PM. The Moore Theatre is located at 1932 Second Ave., downtown Seattle. For tickets ($22.50-$37.50) call Ticketmaster at (206) 292-ARTS or in person at the Paramount Theatre box-office.
