The Off-Broadway premiere of Hir, a "subversive" comedy by Obie Award winner Mac and helmed by Niegel Smith, is led by Tony nominee and two-time Obie winner Kristine Nielsen (Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike). Nielsen plays a wife and mother who finds herself liberated from an oppressive marriage and "on a crusade to dismantle the patriarchy," state press notes. Tom Phelan is set to play her son, who is "newly out transgender," and his mother's ally.
