News   Pics! Meet the Cast of Gigantic Featuring Leslie Kritzer, Burke Moses and More
Leslie Kritzer, Burke Moses and the cast of Gigantic met the press for the new musical comedy on Oct. 20. Gigantic is being presented Off-Broadway by Vineyard Theatre starting Nov. 11.

Set at the no. 3 weight-loss camps for teens in Southern Pennsylvania, the musical features a book by Randy Blair and Tim Drucker, lyrics by Blair and music by Matt roi Berger.

The cast will include Moses (Beauty and the Beast, Kiss Me, Kate), Kritzer (Hairspray, A Catered Affair), Andrew Durand (War Horse, Spring Awakening), Katie Ladner (Heathers: The Musical), Max Wilcox ("Glee"), Taylor Louderman (Bring It On: The Musical, "Peter Pan Live"), Ryann Redmond (If/Then, Bring It On: The Musical), Jennifer Geller, Jared Loftin, Bonnie Milligan, Larry Owens, Cole Ragsdale, Mimi Scardulla, Nyla Watson and Kalyn West.

The Off-Broadway engagement will run through Dec. 20, with an official opening night set for Dec. 3. Scott Schwartz will direct, and Chase Brock will choreograph. The show will play at The Acorn Theatre on Theatre Row in Manhattan's theatre district due to facility upgrades at the Vineyard's permanent Union Square home.

Previously titled Fat Camp, the musical debuted in 2009 as part of the New York Musical Theatre Festival and played a brief Off-Broadway run in 2012. The story follows Robert's resistant journey to weight-loss camp, told with "biting humor and irreverence." According to the Vineyard's release, Gigantic "tackles the growing pains of adolescence through the experiences of a bunch of misfit teens forced to find solace in one another as they look — inside and out — for acceptance, a hot make-out session, and the last contraband Butterfinger."

Gigantic will feature set design by Timothy R. Mackabee, costume design by Gregory Gale, lighting design by Jeff Croiter and sound design by John Shivers and David Patridge. Music supervision, arrangements and orchestrations are by Dominick Amendum. Musical direction is by Aaron Jodoin, and casting is by Michael Cassara, CSA.

The Vineyard's 2015-16 season will also feature new works by Pulitzer winner Paula Vogel and Tony nominee Colman Domingo, whose play Dot will be directed by multiple Tony winner Susan Stroman. The company will also stage the New York premiere of John Kander's new musical Kid Victory in the fall of 2016. Read more about the season here
