Women's Project Theater kicked off its new season Oct. 26 with the Off-Broadway premiere of Dear Elizabeth, Sarah Ruhl's two-hander, pieced together from the real-life letters of acclaimed poets Elizabeth Bishop and Robert Lowell.

Helmed by Kate Whoriskey, performances of Dear Elizabeth run through Dec. 5. The rotating cast of actors includes two-time Tony winner Cherry Jones, Tony nominee Kathleen Chalfant, "Girls" star Becky Ann Baker and Obie winner John Douglas Thompson, among others.

The full rotating cast and schedule follow: from Oct. 26 – 31 are Kathleen Chalfant (Wit, Angels in America) and Drama Desk nominee Harris Yulin (Hedda Gabler, Diary of Anne Frank); from Nov. 2 – 7 will be Obie Award and Drama Desk Award winner J. Smith-Cameron (Juno and the Paycock) and John Douglas Thompson (Othello, Satchmo at the Waldorf); from Nov. 9-14 will be Becky Ann Baker and Broadway vet Peter Scolari; from Nov. 16 – 21 will be two-time Tony winner Cherry Jones (Doubt, "24") and David Aaron Baker (Once Upon A Mattress, A Raisin in the Sun); from Nov. 23 – 28 will be real-life married couple Ellen McLaughlin (Angels in America) and Grammy winner and Pulitzer finalist Rinde Eckert (Slow Fire, And God Created Great Whales); and from Nov. 30 – Dec. 5 will be Obie winner Mia Katigbak (Awake and Sing!) and a co-star to be announced.

Polly Noonan (Dead Man’s Cell Phone) plays the Stage Manager role for all six weeks.

The story follows the unconventional friendship and love shared between prize-winning poets Bishop and Lowell, who corresponded by mail for more than 30 years (and some 400 letters). The creative team features set design by Antje Ellermann, costume design by Anita Yavich, lighting design by Mary Louise Geiger, sound design by Jill BC Du Boff and Emily Auciello and casting by Kelly Gillespie and David Caparelliotis.

Dear Elizabeth kicks off the Women's Project Theater's inaugural season at its new artistic home: the McGinn/Cazale Theater, located at 2162 Broadway, at 76th St. in New York. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit or phone (212) 765-1706.
