Brian Friel’s play, which runs from July 3–15, focuses on the relationship between Czech composer Leos Janacek (Goodman) and his muse, Kamila Stosslova (Pike).
Pike’s stage credits include Terry Johnson’s 2003 play Hitchcock Blonde, and the actress is also due to appear in a Nottingham Playhouse revival of Tennessee Williams’ Summer and Smoke, which opens in September and is expected to transfer to the West End.
Goodman is set to play the role of Tevye later this year in Lindsay Posner’s revival of Fiddler on the Roof, which opens in November at Sheffield’s Crucible Theatre.
Friel’s plays include The Home Place and Faith Healer, the Gate Theatre production of which is currently running at Broadway’s Booth Theatre starring Ralph Fiennes.
Helmed by the Gate Artistic Director Lou Stein, Performance, first seen in Dublin three years ago, features music performed by the Brodsky Quartet.
