The cast of the play, to run at the Unicorn Theatre, includes Martin Askin, Joshua Davis, Austin Durant, Brent Michael Eroy, Phil Sletteland, Arnica Skulstad-Brown and Justin Stoney. Temperley is not aiming low with this work. His intention is to "overturn preconceived notions of not only the pilgrims—turkeys, Thanksgiving and Plymouth Rock—but also hippies, the CIA, religious fundamentalism, and same-sex marriage."
Temperley is best known as the author of Souvenir, which had a production at the BTF in 2005, starring Judy Kaye, and then had a brief run on Broadway during the 2005-06 season. Kaye won a Tony nomination for her performance.
The Pilgrim Papers will have an opening night of Aug. 2.
