The original cast album of the Frank Wildhorn - Nan Knighton musical The Scarlet Pimpernel was released Feb. 3 by Atlantic Records.

The timing of the CD is fortuitous, since Scarlet Pimpernel plays its 100th performance at the Minskoff Theatre tomorrow night, Feb. 4.

It's the second Wildhorn musical to be released in the last nine months, the first being Jekyll & Hyde. Like J&H, SP was first heard as a concept album, released in the early 1990s. Linda Eder sings Marguerite on the concept CD; Christine Andreas will be heard in the role on the OC album, which also features Terrence Mann and Douglas Sills in the other leading roles. Andreas also sings the show's "Storybook" on her own recently released solo disk.

Twenty-five songs will be on the Pimpernel CD, including "Madame Guillotine," "She Was There," "Only Love," and "You are My Home."
