Compagnia della Rancia in collaboration with Productions LLC and Laura Rossi present the American premiere of Pinocchio The Italian Musical beginning Oct. 19 at The Kaye Playhouse at Hunter College.

Performances will continue through Oct. 23. The production will be performed in Italian with English subtitles.

Conceived and directed by Saverio Marconi,  Pinocchio features choreography by Fabrizio Angelini and music by I Pooh. In a previous statement Compagnia della Rancia artistic director Marconi said, "We are thrilled to bring a piece of Italian heritage and culture to America with the timeless messages of embracing differences and the importance of family found in Pinocchio."

The cast includes Manuel Frattini as Pinocchio, Pierpaolo Lopatriello as Geppetto, Simona Rodano as Angela and Silvia Di Stefano as Volpe.

Pinocchio The Italian Musical is based on the popular Italian fairytale, "The Adventures of Pinocchio," written in 1881 by Carlo Collodi. This modern musical adaptation features "a diverse genre of music, including rock ballads, operetta, canzone, hip-hop and Latin –and is ideal for children and adults of all ages," according to press notes.
