The immensely popular children's-book-figure Pipi Langkous (Pippi Longstocking) is to make her stage debut in The Netherlands Aug. 21 in the family-musical Pipi Langkous - Het Sterkste Avontuur van de Hele Wereld (The Strongest Adventure in the World)

Pipi Langkous is a creation by the Swedish writer Astrid Lindgren, which became immensely popular during the seventies because of a television series. The new musical Pipi Langkous - Het Sterkste Avontuur van de Hele Wereld will mark the first time that this character can be seen on stage. Based on an original story by Astrid Lindgren, it was reworked for the stage by An Simons with lyrics by Ivo de Wijs and music by Ronny Mosuse.

The 33 roles will be played by 12 actors, led by Mieke Laureys in the title role. Lulu Aertgeerts will direct and choreography is by Etienne van Geel.

Pipi Langkous - Het sterkste Avontuur van de Hele Wereld can be seen in 48 theatres in The Netherlands and Belgium between August 21, 1998 and January 10, 1999. The first night is planned for August 28, 1998 at the Stadsschouwburg Eindhoven.
