Vereen, who was most recently on Broadway in the revival of Herb Gardner’s I’m Not Rappaport, will offer song and dance at his April 5 concert at the Center’s Walt Whitman Theatre. Part of the Con Edison Celebrity Series, the concert begins at 8 PM. A star of stage and screen, Ben Vereen made his Broadway debut in Jesus Christ Superstar, earning a Tony Award nomination for his performance. He nabbed the Tony for his work in Bob Fosse's production of Pippin and has also starred on Broadway in Grind, Jelly's Last Jam and Fosse. The recent revival of I'm Not Rappaport marked Vereen's non-musical Broadway debut.
Tickets for the one-night-only engagement are priced at $45 and may be ordered by calling (718) 951-4500 or (212) 307-7171. The Brooklyn Center for the Performing Arts’ Walt Whitman Theatre is located on the campus of Brooklyn College. For more information, go to www.brooklyncenter.com.
