Pittsburgh Public Theater has announced the remainder of their 2023-2024 season, which includes the previously announced world premiere of Billy Strayhorn: Something to Live For, based on the life and music of the legendary jazz songwriter.

Running September 19-October 8, the production will be directed by Kent Gash, with music direction by acclaimed jazz pianist Matthew Whitaker. 

Following Something To Live For, the Pennsylvania company will present Alec Silberblatt’s immersive adaptation of Edgar Allen Poe’s A Tell-Tale Heart October 5-31, and Tiny Beautiful Things, based on the acclaimed book by Cheryl Strayed, which has been adapted for the stage by Nia Vardalos. Tiny Beautiful Things will be presented November 1—19. The Pennsylvania theatre will close out the year with A Christmas Story: The Play, returning for the holiday season December 9—23.

2024 will kick off with Dragon Lady, Sara Porkalob's one-woman cabaret exploring the memories of her family matriarch, running February 7–23, 2024. A revival of The Importance of Being Earnest as adapted by Jenny Koons will follow March 27-April 14, 2024, and The Coffin Maker, Mark Clayton Southers' comedic western revenge play, will receive its world premiere May 29-June 16, 2024.
