News Placido Domingo & Friends Concert Features McDonald and Chenoweth Tony Award winners Audra McDonald and Kristin Chenoweth will be part of Placido Domingo & Friends Concert & Gala May 13.

McDonald and Chenoweth will sing at the May 13 event, which begins at 7:30 PM at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion. Variety reports that the evening will also include performances by Renee Fleming, Juan Diego Florez, Denyce Graves, Maria Guleghina, Andrea Rost, Dolora Zajick and Domingo himself. The star-studded list of presenters includes Sidney Poitier, Hugh Jackman, Salma Hayek, Rebecca Romijn-Stamos, William Friedkin, Anthony Hopkins and Garry Marshall. A Tony Award winner for her work in Master Class, Carousel and Ragtime, Audra McDonald was most recently on Broadway in the title role of Marie Christine. The singer-actress recently made her solo Carnegie Hall concert debut in an evening of songs scored for big bands, performing several tunes from her Nonesuch CD "Happy Songs." McDonald's other solo recordings, "Way Back to Paradise" and "How Glory Goes," are also on the Nonesuch label. This summer, she will star with Patti LuPone in a concert version of Stephen Sondheim’s Passion at Chicago’s Ravinia Festival.

Kristin Chenoweth, who opened this season's American Songbook series at Lincoln Center, made her New York theatrical debut opposite Bill Irwin in a production of Molière's Scapin and followed that with a lead role in Kander and Ebb's Steel Pier. Roles in Off-Broadway's A New Brain and the City Center Encores! productions of Strike Up the Band and On a Clear Day You Can See Forever ensued. She was also recently featured in the TV production of Meredith Willson's The Music Man and will return to Broadway this fall in Stephen Schwartz’s new musical Wicked.
