One suspects that the late "grade Z" filmmaker and closet transvestite Ed Wood, Jr., is having a good laugh at the fact that Plan 9 From Outer Space -- The Musical has caught on big with Seattle audiences.
The musical was initially extended through January, and now the Seattle Theatre Project has now announced a second extension through Mar 1.
(It's not surprising, since Seattle was one of the few cities across the country where Tim Burton's crtically acclaimed film biography Ed Wood was a commercial hit.)
At the moment, with the exception of Re-bar's Pirates of Lesbos, there has been a low quotient of "low brow, high camp" theatre available to the Seattle fringe theatre audiences, and Plan 9 has become one of those shows that people pay repeat visits to.
Performances are Thu.-Sat. at 8 PM and Sun. at 7 PM at The Ionic Room, 801 E. Pine. For tickets, $12.50-$16, call (206) 706-7880. -- By David-Edward Hughes
