Reporter Linda Armstrong will cover the 1997 Black Theatre Festival for Playbill On-Line, filing daily reports on a remarkable lineup of plays and performers during the week of August 4-9 in Winston-Salem, NC.
Armstrong has been a regular freelancer for New York's Amsterdam News since 1986. Her stories have appeared in TheaterWeek and the New York Daily News.
Look for her dispatches each day that week on some of the 250 African American theatre artists in more than 20 productions.
The biennial event features appearances by John Amos, Ruby Dee, Ossie Davis, Michael De Lorenzo, Loretta Devine, Marilyn McCoo, Stephanie Mills, Reginald Van Johnson and Courtney B. Vance.
