Playbill.com polled our readers via Facebook and Twitter asking them to share their favorite Sondheim tunes and tell us why they made their list.

Jenn Novak: Too many! Although "Being Alive" is just so wrought with emotion, that's probably my favorite. And anything from Follies.
R J Equality Lowe: Just one?!?! Oy! My gut instinct says "Being Alive." It is the perfect character transition song. It starts off with Bobby describing and judging what he thinks marriage is and then halfway through softly transitions into him realizing that he is not only finally ready for but desperately WANTS what he's been running from for so long. Add to that that it has one of the most powerful musically dramatic builds and it becomes a true joy to both hear and perform!

Jen Lau: While it's hard just to pick one (they're all equally brilliant), I must say "No One Is Alone" is among my favorites, along with "With So Little To Be Sure Of" and "The Road You Didn't Take"
Jordan Jacobs: "No One is Alone" is really the greatest song of optimism. In dark times, there's always someone there for you. It's a beautiful message!
Hunter Emmett Burke: My absolute favorite by Sondheim is "No One Is Alone." Into the Woods was the first Sondheim show I ever performed in and every night, that song struck a chord with me that none of his other songs had done before. It was like a fresh experience every night.

Margaret Daisy Rose: lyrically, "Somewhere" from West Side Story. But overall it would have to be either "Johanna" from Sweeney Todd or "No One Is Alone" from Into the Woods. But really all of his songs are epic so they is no real way to pick one.

Jade Kops: "Losing my Mind" - Follies. The lost love that never quite leave you and haunt all other relationships. The constant reminders in the simple things. The knowing you need to let go, and not wanting to all at the same time.

Christina Ralph: How can I choose just one? The man is a musical genius! "Stay With Me" (Into the Woods), "No One Is Alone" (Into the Woods), "Losing My Mind" (Follies), "Loving You" (Passion), "More" (Dick Tracy movie), "I Never Do Anything Twice" (7% Solution movie).....etc. I love all of these songs because each and every Sondheim song is like an onion....every song has many layers, and as you peel each away, you discover new things "that you never knew before". Each of his songs tells a captivating story, that keeps you entranced throughout its duration.

Garrett Canna: "Johanna (Quartet)" from Sweeney Todd. Seamless blending of melodic lines, all while pushing the various characters further down their respective paths - Sweeney toward self-destruction and death, Johanna and Antony toward each other, and getting the beggar woman even more tangled in Mrs. Lovett's deadly web.

Michelle Nigro: "Move On" from Sunday in the Park with George. The lyrics are just so moving and inspirational. Anytime I hear it sung, especially by Mandy Pantikin and Bernadette Peters, I get the chills.
