Polls PLAYBILL POLL: Who Should Kill It as Patrick Bateman in American Psycho? Readers Respond Second Stage has announced that American Psycho, the musical based on the 1991 Bret Easton Ellis novel of the same name, will begin performances in February 2015. The production has already had legs in London, where "Doctor Who" leading man Matt Smith played the iconically terrifying role of Patrick Bateman, a part originated on film by Christian Bale. The novel, movie and London production were bloody, sinister and terrifying for audiences of all shapes and sizes...so which actor will take on the deadly feat of bringing Patrick Bateman back to New York City?

Playbill.com polled our readers via Facebook and Twitter to see whom they would like to play the role in the upcoming American Psycho.

Constantine Maroulis

Blake Sherman: Constantine Maroulis

Diana Puertas: I agree with Constantine Maroulis. After seeing him in Jekyll & Hyde last spring, I think he would definitely kill at the role (no pun intended).

A Tony nominee for Rock of Ages, Maroulis is a dark and sultry leading man whose Broadway debut was in The Wedding Singer. This former "American Idol" finalist was most recently seen on Broadway in the revival of Jekyll & Hyde.

Matt Cavenaugh

Lenny Bernal: Matt Cavenaugh with Andy Karl as his understudy/replacement.

Todd Cerino: Matt Cavenaugh

After several Broadway appearances ranging from work in Grey Gardens to A Catered Affair to a dashing Tony in West Side Storyreceiving Drama Desk and Outer Circle Crtiics Award nominations along the way – Cavenaugh's smile enough makes us think he could be charming and psychotic all at once.

Matt Smith

Robyn Fortunat: Definitely have Matt Smith again.

Lauren Smith: Matt Smith...again!

Jacob Shipley: Matt Smith. Let's bring The Doctor back to the city!

Dave Ortrud: Matt Smith should definitely be given the opportunity to reprise his role.

Smith played Patrick Bateman in the London debut of American Psycho...but perhaps he's best known for his role as The Doctor in "Doctor Who." London audiences already saw him do some slaying, so will New York watch him revive his bloody performances?

Benjamin Walker

Amanda Sales: Ben Walker or Heath Calvert. #dreamcasting

Meghan Dixon: BEN WALKER! or @PinkhamBryce #sinistereyebrows

Benjamin Walker is no stranger to the New York theatre scene, having made several appearances on and off Broadway in Bloody, Bloody Andrew Jackson, Les Liaisons Dangereuses, and as the troubled and enigmatic Brick in Cat on A Hot Tin Roof...not to mention his role in "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter." He certainly has the "chops"...no pun intended.

Bryce Pinkham

Sophia Gringas: Bryce Pinkham!

Meghan Dixon: @PinkhamBryce #sinistereyebrows

Tony nominee Pinkham is currently starring in the Tony-winning production of A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder, but he also graced the stage of Broadway in Ghost The Musical and shared the boards with fellow poll favorite, Benjamin Walker in Bloody, Bloody Andrew Jackson. Will it be a fight to the death for the two dark and steamy leading men?
