Full given name: John Nicholas Tartaglia
Hometown: Maple Shade, New Jersey / Upper Dublin, Pennsylvania (we moved when I was 11)
Zodiac sign: Aquarius
Audition song: Oh, it changes all the time! Everything from "Love, I Hear" to "I've Got to Find a Reason" to "Second Cousin." I never feel like I pick the right song!
First Broadway show ever saw: Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Chorus trips rock!
If you could go back in time and catch any Broadway show, what would it be? Three way tie: Ethel Merman in Gypsy, Zero Mostel in Fiddler on the Roof and Jennifer Holliday in Dreamgirls.
Current show you have been recommending to friends: Grey Gardens - Christine Ebersole is unbelievable, and the score is fantastic.
Favorite showtune: That's like asking me which one of my cats is my favorite...Blasphemy!
MAC or PC? MAC
Most played song on your iPod: "It's All Over" from the "Dreamgirls" movie soundtrack. I am SO happy for Anika Noni Rose!
Last book you read: "Walt Disney: The Triumph of the American Imagination"
Must-see TV show: "The Golden Girls"....I know, I know, but it's amazing brain candy after the show.
Last good movie you saw: "Notes on a Scandal"... Judi Dench... Unbelievable.
Favorite reality show: "American Idol"....I'll admit it..I LOVE seeing how loopy Paula is each week!
Performer you would drop everything to go see: Alanis Morisette or the Dixie Chicks
Pop culture guilty pleasure: Ok,...Please don't judge me for this...."Grease, You're the One That I Want."
First stage kiss: As Will Parker in Oklahoma! in eighth grade...My Ado Annie and I hated each other and DREADED it. But, then we co-starred in every show through high school and laughed about it. She had braces at the time, and I was convinced they were evil and going to cut me!!
Pre-show rituals: Sing a random song to warm up (everything from "Aquarius" to "Defying Gravity" somehow works for this). Ann Harada, the original Christmas Eve in Avenue Q, was originally fascinated, then horrified by this nightly occurrence. A lot of stretching and Jonathan Freeman (my Cogsworth in Beauty) and I have these little moments and jokes we always laugh about.
Worst flubbed line: Forgetting half of the bridge to "Girlfriend Who Lives in Canada" and making up some language to cover it up-something along the lines of "Laaaast week she was here but she had the flu, Too baaadd..scremble ska ka demnflump dad tedsredka who" and then tripping...twice... Natalie Belcon (Gary Coleman) had to hold onto Jen Barnhart to not fall over from laughing.
Special skills: I'm double jointed in my shoulders and pinky fingers; can do real time lip synch with a puppet; I can do a mean imitation of Carol Channing and Little Edie.
Cats or dogs? Both! Mia, Keisha and Sebastian are my cats, and Dora is my puppy.
Who would play you in the movie? Ohhh..hmm...Jake Gyllenhaal??
Worst job you ever had: I was a busboy at an East Side restaurant and on my first day, in the first hour, knocked over a full glass of red wine on a lady's white fur coat...hilarity ensued.
