Full given name: Judith Isa Kaye
Hometown: Phoenix, AZ
Zodiac sign: Libra
Audition song: Everything from "Glitter and Be Gay" to "Let Me In," a 50's hit that I used to audition and was cast in the 1st National company of Grease in 1973.
Special skills: Well, I don't know what you call special. I ride horses. I ski. I play golf. I sing. I dance. And, now I play a pretty mediocre tuba...
First Broadway show ever saw: I saw Damn Yankees on Broadway. The first time!
If you could go back in time and catch any Broadway show, what would it be? West Side Story, the original production.
Current show you have been recommending to friends: Actually, I have recommended Wicked to lots of folks. I really enjoyed it.
Favorite show tune: I have a pretty long list of favorites. I really can't boil it down to one song. And, I have favorite scores: Carousel, West Side, Follies, Gypsy, Sweeney Todd, Fiddler on the Roof, and on and on. Let's face it: I'm a junky...
MAC or PC? PC, but wish I was a MAC. I will be the next time around.
Most played song on your iPod: I have a really eclectic playlist. Everything from The Last Five Years to Trisha Yearwood, Martha Argerich, Billy Joel, and the entire Capitol and Reprise collections of Frank Sinatra!
Last book you read: "Stardust Lost: The Triumph, Tragedy, and Mishugas of the Yiddish Theater in America" by Stefan Kanfer.
Must-see TV show: Anything written by Aaron Sorkin. I am still in mourning for "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip."
Favorite board/card game: Scrabble and Gin, to play or to drink in a lovely dry martini.
Performer you would drop everything to go see: Len Cariou
First stage kiss: I was doing the balcony scene from West Side (is there a theme here???) at the Jewish Community Center in Phoenix. I was a sophomore in high school, I think. And, Maria and Tony kissed.
Favorite pre-show meal: Fish. I do my best work on fish.
How you got your Equity card: I was hired to do chorus at the long gone Melodyland Theater, across the street from Disneyland in Anaheim, CA. I performed small roles and whatnot chorus stuff in a season of summer stock.
Worst missed cue: I was playing Lucy Van Pelt in You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown in LA. I had just returned to the long-running show from a limited run of Fiddler in Honolulu, Hawaii. But, I came back to CB perhaps too soon. I was seriously jetlagged and probably needed a little put-in rehearsal. I "went up" completely during the "Lucy Takes a Survey" portion of the second act. Nobody, not even Gary Berghoff, our Charlie Brown, could get me back on track. I left the stage. The curtain came down. I quickly pulled myself together. And, we went on. It was horrifying. But, I lived.
Who have you played on "Law & Order"? Which edition? I play a judge, Susan Lehman, on the "mother ship."
Worst costume ever: Oh God. Perhaps the unitard I had to wear in The Mooney Shapiro Songbook.
Favorite cereal: Spoon size shredded wheat. I snack on it.
Who would play you in the movie? Meryl Streep, of course.
Worst job you ever had: I've been so lucky. I've always been able to do what I love to make a living.
