Kerry Butler

Your top three Olivia Newton-John songs: "Suspended in Time," "Have You Never Been Mellow" and "Xanadu" are my favorite songs. Luckily, I get to sing all three in Xanadu!
Full given name: Kerry Marie Butler
Hometown: Brooklyn, NY
Zodiac sign: Gemini
Audition song: My favorite audition song used to be "I Just Want to Be a Star" from Nunsense because it got me my first Broadway show.
Special skills: I never really had any, but now I am so excited to say: roller skating!!!
First Broadway show ever saw: Annie. It made want to be on Broadway. When I was a kid, I auditioned for the movie and got a message on my parent's answering machine saying I got the part of one of the orphans. The very next message said they called the wrong girl. Ouch! The first of many rejections!
If you could go back in time and catch any Broadway show, what would it be? Baby. I love that music so much and have never seen the show. I did get to do a concert version of it for Reprise, so that was fun.
Favorite show tune: "The Story Goes On" from Baby.
Most played song on your iPod: "Extraordinary" by Liz Phair.
One CD you couldn't live without: This is going to sound crazy after I just said Liz Phair is the most frequently listened to, but the CD I need the most would be my Christian CD "I Could Sing of Your Love." If I get upset about anything, I put that on and it calms me down.
Last book you read: I'm reading "The Blessing of a Skinned Knee" by Wendy Mogel. Everything is about my daughter at this point.
Must-see TV show: "Gilmore Girls" - so sad it was cancelled!!!
Favorite board/card game: I am all about game nights!! I love Celebrity and running charades — which to my knowledge have never been stuck in a box and sold by the Brothers Parker. So, if you need an official over-the-counter type board game, I'd go with Apples to Apples. I also love Texas Hold 'Em - my innocent looks get me a long way!
Performer you would drop everything to go see: John Mayer. I love his music, but his taste in woman I hold suspect.
Pop culture guilty pleasure: When I need a guilty pleasure, there's nothing like meeting Dylan, Donna, Brandon and Steve down at the Peach Pit. "Beverly Hills 90210" baby!
First stage kiss: It was in Grease in high school. My second stage kiss was actually with the boy who is now my husband!! I was Kim, he was Hugo in Bye Bye Birdie, also in HS.
Favorite post-show meal: Peanut butter and jelly. That's actually my favorite thing to eat all the time…
How you got your Equity card: With my first Broadway show, Blood Brothers.
Worst flubbed line: After I did Beauty and the Beast for two-and-a-half years, I kept forgetting one line — "Gaston, you are positively primeval." I had said it over 500 times before with no problem, and all of a sudden it was gone. It would crack Marc Kudisch up, and he'd laugh right in my face. Needless to say, that is when I knew it was time for me to leave that show.
Worst costume ever: The gold gown from Beauty and the Beast. It's a beautiful dress but very heavy, and had a mind of its own. I think it weighed about 15 pounds.
Favorite cereal: Peanut butter Puffins
Who would play you in the movie? Lauren Graham
Worst job you ever had: Singing waitress on a boat that cruised around New York. I used to make big pity tips, though. Every time I spilled something on someone, which was often, I would cry and they'd feel bad and give me money.
