Katie Finneran

Full given name: Kathleen Kelly Finneran
Hometown: Chicago
Audition song: "Where Am I Going?" "What Do You Think I Am?" "Who Are You Now?" (What does that say about me that I picked all question songs?)
Special skills: I'm a goldsmith. I make pretty gold jewelry. Blowtorches and goggles and gold... oh my...
Nominee you're most excited for: Rob Ashford and Kevin Chamberlin. Not only is Rob my genius director, but I also did my first musical My Favorite Year with him and Kevin.
Who are you taking Tony night: Darren Goldstein. He's a red-headed actor. And the love of my life.
Previous Tony experience: I was fortunate enough to win a Tony in 2002 for Noises Off. It lives on my parents' piano in Miami.
First Broadway show ever saw: Michael Feinstein. I was 16 and in NYC on a business trip with my dad and I had all his records and waited for him at the stage door and anticipated that we would fall madly in love and he would sing to me every day. He signed my program...
If you could go back in time and catch any Broadway show, what would it be? Ethel Merman in anything.
Current show you have been recommending to friends: Red Red Red
Favorite showtune: Sweeny Todd "Johanna" Act II
Most played song on your iPod: "Haven't Met You Yet" Michael Bublé. This song makes me happy.
Web obsession: looking for bed linens
Last book you read: "Masters in Gold..." Deb Monk gave me this book when we were doing Love, Loss and What I Wore.
Must-see TV show: "Damages"
Last good movie you saw: "The Blind Side" - perfect Hollywood movie. Ridiculous sobbing on my part. I'm so happy Sandra Bullock won the Oscar. I worked with her once and she's a class act. A kind, generous, funny woman.
Performer you would drop everything to go see: Patti LuPone
Pop culture guilty pleasure: "Celebrity Rehab." I'm ashamed I watch, but I love Dr. Drew and I wish them all the best.
First stage kiss: I was understudying and went on for the lead in My Favorite Year and while kissing Evan Pappas, I really let him have it. It was not a stage kiss to say the least. What can I say? Evan is a cutie.
Favorite pre-/post-show meal: Pre- cupcakes in Kristin Chenoweth's dressing room. Post- Darren Goldstein makes me dinner. Sometimes he makes handmade gnocchi. Really. I'm a lucky girl.
How you got your Equity card: I bought it. I had my SAG card from a commercial. I moved to New York at 19. I wanted to feel like a legitimate actress and was eligible, so I took all the money I had and I bought it.
Worst onstage mishap: I was the maid in The Heiress with Cherry Jones, and one night backstage she had just eaten a banana and by mistake she went on with the banana peel stuck to her dress. As the maid, I felt somewhat responsible.
Worst costume ever: Edith Stein at the Jewish Rep — an itchy wool Carmelite nun's habit.
Who would play you in the movie? Will Ferrell. I'd trust him with any role.
Worst job you ever had: Perfume spray girl at Bloomingdales. More rejection than any other job.
TV or commercial gig you most enjoyed: Oxy Acne Med commercial when I was 16. For some reason it was a game show setting and the commercial ends with an enormous Oxy box dropping over me....
Leading lady role you've been dying to play Medea - the musical version where she doesn't kill the kids, but gets revenge by being enormously witty and sardonic.
