News Playwrights Horizons Will Present Panel Discussion With Anne Washburn, Sarah Ruhl and More at Symphony Space Playwrights Horizons will present a panel discussion with the playwrights featured in its upcoming season Sept. 23 at 7:30 PM.

Held at Symphony Space's Leonard Nimoy Thalia Theater, the panel will be moderated by Washington Post chief theatre critic Peter Marks, joined by Playwrights Horizons artistic director Tim Sanford.

The discussion will feature artists representing the six productions of the theatre company's 2013-14 season. The event will offer a first look at the season's lineup and an insider's perspective on the process of putting together a season of new American plays and musicals.

It will also offer an opportunity to hear the writers discuss their lives and careers and the backstory of the plays.

The lineup includes:

Anne Washburn (The Internationalist), whose new play Mr. Burns – A Post-Electric Play has launched the season. She will be joined by Obie Award-winning composer Michael Friedman (Saved, The Drunken City, Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson, Love's Labour's Lost), whose compositions are featured in the play.  Marlane Meyer (The Chemistry of ChangeEtta Jenks, Moe's Lucky Seven), whose new play The Patron Saint of Sea Monsters will begin previews Oct. 18.

Madeleine George (The Zero Hour), whose new play The (curious case of the) Watson Intelligence, commissioned by Playwrights Horizons with funds from the Harold and Mimi Steinberg Charitable Trust, will begin previews Nov. 15.

Two-time Pulitzer Prize finalist Sarah Ruhl (Dead Man's Cell Phone, The Clean House, In the Next Room), whose new play Stage Kiss will begin previews Feb. 7, 2014.

Kirk Lynn (Founder, Rude Mechanicals, Austin), whose new play Your Mother's Copy of the Kama Sutra will begin previews March 28.

Co-author Will Connolly (performer, Once) and director Carolyn Cantor (The Great God Pan, After the Revolution, Pumpgirl, Orange Flower Water), whose new musical Fly By Night: A New Musical will begin previews May 16.
