Dance of the Vampires, a musical version of Roman Polanski's 1967 film horror spoof, "The Fearless Vampire Killers," fared well in this year's annual German IMAGE Awards, nabbing six of the eight awards for "Open End Productions." Polanski himself directed the production. Each year Germany salutes its musicals and musical performers with the annual IMAGE Awards, given both for open-ended productions and state (regional) productions.

Although Internationally known for directing such films as "Rosemary's Baby," "Chinatown," "Macbeth," and "Death and the Maiden," Polanski is notorious in the United States for fleeing the country in 1977 after being charged in a statutory rape case.
