News Post-College Comedy Beer for Breakfast Premieres June 21 in NYC Beer for Breakfast, a new comedy about four twentysomething men sharing an apartment after college, begins a world premiere run in Manhattan June 21.

Robert Scott Sullivan's play, directed by Jenn Bornstein, opens July 2 and continues to July 23 at the Producer's Club 2 in Ninth Avenue at 43rd Street.

Presented by Talegate Productions, LLC, the staging features Meg Bartholomay, Nathan Bock, Julie Campbell-Elliott, Kenneth Hatlee, Ricardo Maldonado, Topher Mikels and Tom Olori.

The play, author Sullivan told Playbill.com, "is about the absurd lives of men; the male obsession with sex; the quarter century crisis; the general coming to grips with the fact that there is no rhyme or reason to any of it; and the terror of the looming responsibility of being an adult."

The characters are loosely based on real guys Sullivan knew when he attended Boston University. "Though the actual situations have been slightly exaggerated for theatrical purposes," he said, "the characters are all basically throwbacks to my roommates from an on-campus apartment. The three guys with whom I shared the off-campus apartment had such extreme personalities [that] it's a wonder how we survived the living arrangements. It was a total Odd Couple experience but with four people instead of two. I always thought that someday I'd have to write something about this period of my life. Everyday in that apartment was a comedy. …That is how this loopy show was born."

The creative team includes Jessica Veres (costume design), Bart Schobert (set design), Mike Gnazzo (lighting design), Mark Marshall (sound design and original music). The producers hope to move the production to Off-Broadway.

Tom Olori is managing director and Jenn Bornstein is artistic director of Talegate Productions.

Tickets are $35 and available via Smarttix at (212) 868-4444.
