News Poulos Will Be The Foreigner at Northport's Engeman Theatre Jim Poulos will star in Larry Shue's screwball comedy The Foreigner at the Engeman Theatre in Long Island.

B.T. McNicholl, who directed Poulos in the Engeman production of Lend Me a Tenor last season, returns to stage The Foreigner, which begins previews Jan. 22 prior to an official opening Jan. 24. Performances will continue through Feb. 22.

Poulos (Rent, Little Shop of Horrors) will star as Charlie Baker in a cast that also features Doug Stender (Noises Off) as Sgt. "Froggy" LeSeuer, Suzan Perry as Betty Meeks, Jeffrey Withers (The History Boys) as Rev. David Marshall Lee, Jenny Dare Paulin (Dividing the Estate) as Catherine Simms, Sheffield Chastain (Is He Dead?) as Owen Musser and Eric Petersen (Spelling Bee) as Ellard Simms.

Press notes for the Obie-winning work, set in rural Georgia, read: "'Froggy' LeSeuer, a British demolition expert, has brought along his pathologically shy friend, Charlie. Before departing, 'Froggy' tells all assembled that Charlie is from an exotic foreign country and speaks no English. Once alone, the fun really begins as Charlie overhears more than he should. Charlie's little white lie fuels the nonstop hilarity of this play and sets up the wildly funny climax in which things go uproariously awry for the 'bad guys.'"

Designing the production are Court Watson (set design), Gail Baldoni (costume design), David Premack (sound design) and Martine E. Vreeland (lighting design).

For tickets, priced $50, call (631) 261-2900 or visit www.engemantheater.com. The Engeman Theater is located at 250 Main Street in Northport, Long Island.
